Have you ever taken dance classes?

Use The Present Perfect + Ever To Ask Questions About Experiences In Someone’s Life.

  • Have you ever taken dance classes?”
    “Yes, I have. I took 6 weeks of lessons before my wedding!”
  • “Has your brother ever been to India?”
    “No, he hasn’t.”
  • “Have your friends ever helped you move to a new apartment?”
    “Yes – twice!”

Use The Present Perfect + Never To Talk About Things You Have NOT Done At Any Time In Your Life.

  • I’ve never failed a test. I’ve always gotten 80% or more.
  • He’s never heard of Michael Jackson. I can’t believe he doesn’t know the King of Pop!
  • Samantha has never been surfing. She’s afraid of the ocean.
  • We’ve never studied Italian. We studied French and Spanish in school, but Italian wasn’t available.

REGULAR AND IRREGULAR VERBS

The English language uses both regular and irregular verbs.

 To form the simple past  and past participle form of a regular verb  add  -ed to the word.

Examples:

Answer- Answered - Answered       
Listen - Listened - Listened   
Hurry - Hurried - Hurried          



Unlike regular verbs, irregular verbs do not follow a pattern. You must memorize them.

Examples:

See - Saw-  Seen. 
Eat  - Ate   -Eaten
Go - Went - Gone

THE SIMPLE PAST TENSE 



The simple past tense is used to talk about finished actions that happened at a specific time in the past. 

To write an AFFIRMATIVE STATEMENT  we use a verb in SIMPLE PAST TENSE.

EXAMPLES:

      SHE SANG A NICE SONG







       Rodrigo sent a message to Sofia




    We use these time EXPRESSIONS with the SIMPLE PAST TENSE.


    - LAST MONTH             -TWO DAYS AGO        - YESTERDAY
    - LAST YEAR 
    - LAST WEEK              -A YEAR AGO
    - LAST WEEKEND           
    - LAST SATURDAY          -THREE DAYS AGO


    EX.    Yesterday, I went to the movies and ate pizza with my friends

           Last weekend, we played soccer and won the match.
